Orienting Summary: This chapter talks about life and perspectives. Simply saying anything can be looked at as boring. Anything can be looked at as interesting and fun. It is all about the reader, or experiences you want to have. This relates to reading and writing. The student or whoever is learning can choose to think the topic is interesting or not. It is all how you want to learn. The chapter summarizes the key points in the book talking about the different strategies and what is in the upcoming chapters. It gives you the resources of the bookend how to use them.

On Unlearning summary: These few pages tell you about the different types of writing. It talks about research papers and english papers and even articles in magazines. You have to be open to learn the different types of writing. There is no physical way to write a magazine article and a research paper the same way. Not while getting a passing grade anyway.  Writing is unlike any other activity there is no repetition. The point of writing is to have an irrefutable argument. The point i feel it is trying to get across is that if you don’t take time to practice different types of writing you can’t expect much back
