Of the multiple literacy narratives I read I see a common pattern and that is the beginning of the paper is always about the struggles that people faced. I completely understand where they are coming from when I wrote my literacy narrative it was a pity party all around. we were asked to revisit our literacy narratives last semester to try and unpack were the root of the problem was. The questions I would ask of the people’s narratives I’ve read are simply where can you place the blame on yourself instead of projected on people who were only there to teach you. I completely understand that people have bad luck and get that one teacher they don’t click with but it shouldn’t be a cop out to not care about education. I also perceive that education isn’t that important to people as it is to me or other people, and I guess thats where perception comes from its all about how you perceive things. Reading writing and learning can’t be important to everyone but the people who hold back others are the ones who need to rethink what they are doing.
