- Gee is saying it is basically impossible to enter a discourse late you can not enter without being a fluent user unless you fake it to enter the discourse. Cuddy is pointing out that people with less of a chance to enter into a good job or a good discourse. They will have the better opportunity to enter into the discourse of choosing.
- They both basically have the same idea talking about the different types of strategies to enter a discourse both agree that with “mush fake” or “power posing” you can make it past any gate keeper of the discourse.
- I think believe in gee’s reasoning more than I do with Cuddy’s I believe anyone not just poor or less fortunate people could enter into a discourse with the right power pose or mush fake. I actually believe it is more difficult to come from a hard upbringing and enter a higher up discourse.
- I believe in Gee’s reasoning more than Cuddy’s reasoning about entering a discourse. I believe everyone has a fair chance to enter a discourse, there is no higher chance due to the background you come from. “Social groups will not, usually, give there social goods-whether these are status or solidarity or both-to those who are not “natives” or “fluent users though’ “mush fake”… may sometimes provide a way for non initiates to gain access” Gee touches on what I believe is true. You can enter a discourse anytime you want with the right mush fake. Cuddy’s example does not settle with me. “power posing the moisture the ones with no resources and no technology and no status and no power…they need their bodies, privacy and two minutes, and it can significantly change the outcomes of their life” Cuddy states that people within a less fortunate discourse are better equipped to use power posing to enter a discourse. I don’t agree with Cuddy I believe that everyone has the wrong idea she is saying one person has a greater chance then another. Everyone is born with the same chance as anyone else and it is up to you to decide what kind of life you have.
