Nicholas Carr argues that the internet specifically google is making us as humans a less intelligent race. ” I can feel it too. Over the past few years Ive had an uncomfortable sense that someone, or something has been tinkering with my brain, remapping the neural circuitry, reprogramming the memory. My mind dint going-so far as i can tell-but its changing. I’m not thinking the way I used to think. I can feel it most strongly while I’m reading.” (page 1 2nd paragraph).

In my experience I have noticed that reading anything longer then a few pages on a paper copy of something has become more difficult as the years go by. I have not been assigned to read an entire book since high school so I haven’t had real experience with that as of recently, but I have noticed that the reading I do get assigned I have become a skimmer even if the reading is quick I skim for the major details.

I can agree with Carrs statement I feel like the internet is not making us stupid but simply making us a more efficient human race. This is not always a good thing people are taking tasks like reading that is supposed to take time and making it into a quick process. Ever since the industrial revolution Americans have to have everything go as quick as possible instead of taking time and doing it right.
